Aluminum silicate fiber paper is a thin, flexible alumina–silica insulation sheet supplied in rolls or sheets for furnace seals, gaskets, narrow-gap insulation, thermal breaks and die-cut parts. Grade selection should be based on the actual continuous operating temperature, short peaks, thermal cycling, atmosphere and compression requirement; classification temperature is not a continuous service rating

Aluminum Silicate Ceramic Fiber Paper Benefits

  • Thin yet efficient insulation
Achieves significant heat loss reduction in thicknesses from 1–5 mm, ideal as a backup or interface layer in dense refractory linings.
  • Clean-burning binder and low shot content
Fiber-washing and controlled binder levels help minimize unfiberized shot and smoke during first heat-up, reducing contamination risk in metal and glass processes.
  • Dimensional uniformity for precise sealing
Tight control of thickness and density across the roll ensures consistent compression and sealing performance along furnace doors and access ports.
  • Good chemical resistance in industrial atmospheres
Resists most common furnace atmospheres and many process chemicals, making it suitable for petrochemical heaters, non-ferrous casting and thermal oxidizers.
  • Easy processing into gaskets and strips
Can be die-cut, water-jet cut, or slit into narrow strips without fraying, simplifying installation and replacement work.

Choose Fiber Paper When the Joint Needs a Thin, Flexible Layer

Fiber paper is typically reviewed for flat seals, narrow gaps, thermal breaks, expansion joints, and cut profiles where a thin, flexible format matters. Use the comparison below to decide whether paper is the right starting form before selecting a temperature grade.

Form Best starting point Do not assume
Paper Thin flat seals, gaskets, narrow gaps, thermal breaks and die-cut parts It replaces thick lining or rigid insulation
Blanket Thicker flexible lining, wrapping and backup insulation It provides paper-like flatness or thin-gasket behavior
Board Rigid panels, structural insulation and machined shapes It bends or compresses like paper
Rope Linear door seals, pipe joints and irregular gaps It replaces a flat sheet gasket

Aluminum Silicate Fiber Paper Applications

From furnace seals to custom die-cut gaskets, ADCERAX supplies fiber paper in rolls, sheets, strips, rings and drawing-based profiles. Find your application below, then send your operating temperature, dimensions and drawing or old-part photo for review.

  • Industrial Furnaces & Heat Treatment

Typical applications: Furnace-door gaskets, access-port and peep-hole seals, thin backup insulation, thermal breaks and expansion-joint fillers.

What we can supply: Rolls, sheets, pre-cut strips and custom die-cut gaskets for furnace production, maintenance replacement and OEM assemblies.

What we can supply: Sheets, strips and custom-cut profiles matched to the installation space, operating temperature and compression requirement.

  • Industrial Gaskets & OEM Components

Typical applications: High-temperature flange gaskets, equipment-door seals, thermal barriers, rings, frames, discs and irregular profiles.

What we can supply: Custom parts produced from your drawing, dimensions or old sample, with thickness, material grade, cut geometry, quantity and packaging confirmed before quotation.

Usage Guide – Aluminum Silicate Fiber Paper

  • Installation

    1. Cut the paper with a sharp knife, scissors or die, keeping edges clean.
    2. Apply it to clean, dry metal or refractory surfaces after removing dust, scale and old gasket material.
    3. For vertical or overhead installation, use approved clips, pins or minimal adhesive outside the hot face until compressed.

  • Use

    1. Compress the paper evenly to the design requirement; avoid excessive local compression.
    2. Raise the temperature gradually during first heat-up and provide ventilation for binder burnout.
    3. Inspect frequently operated seals and replace cracked, permanently compressed or damaged sections.

  • Storage

    1. Keep rolls and sheets in their original packaging in a dry, ventilated area away from sunlight and water.
    2. Store cartons off the floor on pallets or racks.
    3. Do not place heavy items on cartons containing thin paper grades.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance

    1. Remove light dust with a soft brush or suitable vacuum; avoid dispersing dust with compressed air.
    2. Do not wash the paper with water or solvents.
    3. Discard heavily contaminated, chemically attacked or damaged pieces.

  • Common Misuse and Practical Solutions

    1. Misuse: Fully crushing the paper in doors or flanges
Result: Reduced resilience and sealing performance.
Solution: Adjust the closure for uniform design compression.

    2. Misuse: Rapid first heat-up
Result: Binder smoke, swelling or surface defects.
Solution: Use a staged heat-up program with suitable ventilation.

    3. Misuse: Treating classification temperature as continuous service temperature
Result: Shrinkage, embrittlement or premature failure.
Solution: Select the grade by actual continuous temperature, peaks, cycles and atmosphere, and confirm it before use.

Aluminum Silicate Ceramic Fiber Paper FAQ

  1. Q: What is aluminum silicate fiber paper used for in industrial furnaces?
A: Aluminum silicate fiber paper is used as a thin, flexible insulation and sealing layer for furnace doors, access ports, peep holes, thermal breaks, expansion joints and narrow gaps behind refractory linings. Selection depends on the continuous operating temperature, thermal cycling, atmosphere and compression requirement.
  2. Q: What is the maximum service temperature of aluminum silicate fiber paper?
A: A 1260°C classification is a material category reference, not the recommended continuous operating temperature of every installation. The suitable grade depends on the actual continuous temperature, short peaks, cycle frequency, atmosphere and required service life.
  3. Q: Can aluminum silicate fiber paper be die-cut into complex gasket shapes?
A: Yes. ADCERAX can review rings, strips, frames and drawing-based profiles with holes, slots, tabs or notches. Send the required thickness, dimensions, compression condition, quantity and drawing revision. Cutting feasibility and tolerances are confirmed before quotation.
  4. Q: Is aluminum silicate fiber paper suitable for contact with molten aluminum?
A: Do not assume universal suitability for direct molten-aluminum contact. Applications around launder covers, filter boxes and related equipment must be reviewed according to the alloy, operating temperature, contact time, contamination limit, selected grade and installation design.
  5. Q: How does aluminum silicate fiber paper compare with ceramic fiber blanket?
A: Fiber paper is thinner, flatter and easier to cut into gaskets for narrow gaps and sealing interfaces. Ceramic fiber blanket is preferred for thicker flexible insulation, wrapping and backup linings. Final selection depends on the required thickness, geometry, compression and operating conditions.
  6. Q: Does aluminum silicate fiber paper contain asbestos?
A: Confirm this requirement using the current SDS and product declaration for the exact supplied grade. Do not rely only on a generic material-family statement, especially when the project or destination country requires specific compliance documentation.
