What is Alumina Valve?
It is designed to regulate, isolate, or meter corrosive liquids and gases under high temperature, high pressure, or abrasive conditions.
Unlike metal valves, alumina valves maintain dimensional stability, resist corrosion, and extend equipment lifespan in harsh chemical processes.
Alumina Valve vs Zirconia Valve vs Metal Valve
| Key Property | Alumina Ceramic Valve | Zirconia Ceramic Valve | Metal Valve |
| Temperature Resistance | Up to 1200 °C — excellent for high-heat chemical systems | Up to 800 °C — limited under extreme heat | ≤ 400 °C — may deform or oxidize |
| Corrosion Resistance | Excellent — stable in acids, alkalis, solvents | Good — partial reaction under strong acids | Poor — easily corroded, short service life |
| Hardness & Wear | ~1800 Hv — extremely wear-resistant and dimensionally stable | ~1200 Hv — good strength, lower hardness | ~200 Hv — prone to surface wear |
| Service Life | 3–5 × longer than metal valves | 2–3 × longer than metal valves | Frequent replacement required |
| Overall Advantage | ✅ Best balance of cost, stability, and chemical durability | ⚙️ Excellent toughness, higher cost | 💲 Low cost but weak durability |
Alumina Valves Properties
ADCERAX alumina ceramic valves are engineered for demanding fluid systems requiring chemical stability and precision control. They deliver stable, testable sealing performance in corrosive and abrasive service, and extend equipment life in chemical dosing, filling and dispensing applications.
Wear & Mechanical
Built to survive abrasive service — hardness
- Vickers hardness ~1600–1800 HV (typical) — about 5–8× the wear resistance of stainless steel
- Compressive strength ~2000–2500 MPa (typical)
- Designed for abrasion and sliding wear, not for impact loading
Chemical Resistance
Chemically inert to most process media, with clear exceptions.
- Resistant to most acids, alkalis and solvents (pH 1–14)
- No metal ion contamination and no rust during fluid transfer
- Not recommended for hydrofluoric acid (HF) or hot concentrated caustic / phosphoric acid
Thermal & Shock
Temperature stable, with a clear thermal-shock limit.
- Material rated to ~1200 °C; service temp per your fluid
- Low expansion ~7–8 × 10⁻⁶/K keeps sealing stable
- Avoid sudden quenching; shock ΔT confirmed on review
Pressure & Size Range
Tell us your line size and rating — here is what we cover.
- Valve and component size range: DN
- Pressure rating: PN / ANSI Class
- Ball, seat, disc and sleeve machined to your drawing — ±0.05 mm standard, down to ±0.005 mm on ground sealing features

Alumina Valves Applications
From abrasive slurry to micro-litre reagent dosing, alumina ceramic valve parts handle media that corrode or wear metal trim. Find your service below — each tab lists the duty, the usual failure mode, and what to send us for a fit review.
Chemical & Corrosive
Application: Acid and alkali dosing, mixing and process line control.
- Challenge: Metal trim corrodes and pits — leaks, contamination, shutdowns.
- Resists most acids, alkalis, solvents (pH 1–14); not HF or hot caustic
- Lapped faces hold tight shut-off under continuous exposure
- Ball, seat and disc machined to your system
- Send: media, concentration, pH, temperature, pressure, valve type and size.
Slurry & Abrasive
Application: Slurry, tailings, ash and catalyst-laden lines.
- Challenge: Particles erode metal seats in months — leakage and rising torque.
- HV 1600–1800 resists particle erosion far longer than steel trim
- Dense, low-porosity faces limit scouring at the seat line
- Geometry matched to your existing valve body
- Send: solids type, % and particle size, flow, pressure, valve type and size.
Dosing & Metering
Application: Metering pumps, dispensing heads, check-valve assemblies.
- Challenge: Worn metal and polymer parts drift the dose and contaminate fluid.
- Smooth, hard faces hold repeatable dose over long cycle counts
- Inert surfaces keep dosed fluid free of metal ion pickup
- Low-MOQ custom balls, seats and cores built to your pump
- Send: fluid, dose volume and accuracy, cycle rate, part type, tolerance.
Pharmaceutical & Hygienic
Application: Liquid filling, transfer and metering in hygienic lines.
- Challenge: Metal ion pickup, unstable fill accuracy, long cleaning downtime.
- Non-reactive high-purity alumina for sensitive formulations
- Polished faces support CIP/SIP routines
- Tight tolerances hold repeatable fill volume
- Send: media, purity class, CIP/SIP conditions, dose accuracy, drawing.

Customization Process
Send us your drawing, CAD file, or physical sample with material grade, dimensions, tolerances, and quantity. Our engineers will evaluate the design and provide a detailed quotation with lead time and pricing.
Once the quote is approved, we proceed with sample prototyping (1–50 pcs) if needed, for testing and validation.
After sample approval or direct confirmation, we begin batch manufacturing using CNC machining, sintering, and polishing. All parts undergo dimensional checks, material purity testing, and surface finish inspection.
Finished products are securely packed and shipped via DHL/FedEx/UPS or your preferred method. We support global delivery with full documentation.

How We Make and Check Alumina Valve Parts
-
Dimensional Control:
Most valve leakage starts as a dimensional error. Drawings are validated before machining, with ±0.05 mm held on sealing-critical features and ±0.005 mm available where the design requires it. -
Batch Consistency:
Density, surface finish and sealing face are checked each batch to keep flow and sealing behaviour consistent between orders. -
Sealing Face Finishing:
Seats, balls and discs are lapped and polished to the specified surface finish before final inspection.

We supply alumina ceramic valve components — ball, seat, disc, core and sleeve — and ceramic valve assemblies in ball, gate, butterfly, dispensing and filling designs. Tell us which you need and we'll confirm the scope we can cover.
We work in roughly 96%–99.7% Al₂O₃. Higher purity improves corrosion resistance and surface finish for high-purity or aggressive media; mid grades are usually enough for general wear service. We confirm the grade against your duty.
Alumina suits most wear and corrosion service at the best cost. Zirconia adds impact toughness where mechanical shock or thermal cycling is a concern. Silicon carbide handles the most aggressive acids and abrasion.
The alumina material withstands up to ~1200 °C. Working temperature and pressure depend on the body, seals and sealing design, so we confirm both for your line rather than quoting a blanket rating.
Alumina is hard but brittle. We don't recommend it for heavy impact or water-hammer loads, sudden thermal quenching, or hydrofluoric acid and hot concentrated caustic. In those cases we'll point you to zirconia, silicon carbide or a different design.
In most cases, yes. Send the old part or a drawing with dimensions, sealing surface and the failure mode; after a manufacturability review we confirm whether we can match it and the expected lead time.
Yes. We build from your drawing or sample — valve geometry, port dimensions, sealing interface and actuator fit — at low MOQ.
They generally need little maintenance, since the surface is hard and chemically inert. Intervals still depend on your media, cycle rate and solids loading.
In abrasive or corrosive media, alumina parts typically last several times longer than metal trim and hold sealing where metal seats pit or erode. In clean, low-wear service, metal is often the more economical choice.
